Shine rebrands to rainbow, stops selling ad blocking

Where it may be at a disadvantage, however, is that Shine has spent the past 18 months yelling at the ad industry, demanding it cleans up its act. In a sector that is all about building relationships, it may be difficult to convince some people that Rainbow has softened its image and is a company they can trust to do business with. Pivot or not, will this rule still not apply to Rainbow’s business? When Shine’s plans were first mooted, questions were raised about whether it would ever be able to launch after guidelines published by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications in August appeared to prohibit network-level ad blocking.

Even though voters say they do not like negative ads, they are swayed by their messages. Voters may not even know that they are influenced by these ads, as sometimes, the message affects the voters on a subliminal level. In response, Democratic-Republicans charged that Adams was trying to return the country to the British. For example, during the Presidential campaign of 1800, charges were made by Federalists in support of John Adams that Thomas Jefferson was trying to turn the country over to the French and that Jefferson was an atheist. Thanks in large part to negative advertising, many Americans take the approach to elections as voting for the “lesser-of-two-evils.” In effect, we are disillusioned with the candidates before they are even elected.

There is already enough of this problem in politics without negative campaign advertising. Rainbow says it has “quietly” been working with the mobile advertising industry over the past few months to create a consumer mobile ad blocker that only blocks ads that don’t meet industry standards (Such as the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s “LEAN” principles). The previous version of Shine – which also required consumer opt-in – aimed to block all ads.
