Acting Governor of West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Bahtiar Baharuddin, along with elements of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) in the 33rd province, attended the Coordination Meeting on the Preparedness for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections in the regions of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku in Makassar on Wednesday (26/06/24).

The meeting was led by two ministers: Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian. The meeting was also attended by KPU RI Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari and all elements of Forkopimda from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku.

Typically, the Pilkada is conducted twice, specifically the local implementation and the legal dispute process at the Constitutional Court (MK). “Usually, if the Pilkada is conducted twice, it means what? That means first held locally, and then at the MK,” said Hadi while giving guidance in the Coordination Meeting of the 2024 simultaneous Pilkada organizers in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday. “That’s why the Indonesian National Armed Forces-Police have to be vigilant about safeguarding during the actual Pilkada and during the MK sessions, ensuring the readiness of the TNI-Polri forces to secure the regions,” he added. Hadi hopes the 2024 Pilkada stages will proceed smoothly and safely without any hindrances in their implementation. Additionally, post-Pilkada safety must also be ensured. Hadi added that political and legal stability is crucial. He believes, the situation and condition of Polhukam stability will greatly influence the Pilkada stages. “We agree that all components of the nation and state must to maintain political, legal, and security stability for the 2024 Pilkada,” he ended. Anticipating Conflict Before the 2024 Pilkada Hadi Tjahjanto gave a specific message to the TNI, Polri, and BIN for the safety of the 2024 simultaneous Pilkada. Hadi advised that regions with possible conflicts should be addressed before security issues arise. He said this while giving guidance in the Coordination Meeting of the 2024 Pilkada organizers in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on June 26th, 2024. “Particularly TNI, Polri, and BIN. BIN was also attending, in the identification of regions, must determine regions with potential conflicts to mitigate security issues before they occur,” said Hadi. “TNI, Polri, and BIN have to be vigilant, aware beforehand, so that they can mitigate any possible issues,” he added. Furthermore, Hadi requested synergy from local governments in supporting the 2024 Pilkada implementation. If local governments fail to support, the concurrent Pilkada will certainly be hindered. “Therefore, total synergy can guarantee the successful implementation of the 2024 concurrent Pilkada,” he stated. Hadi urged local governments to take strategic steps, including avoiding overlaps between the central and local governments.

However, it is seen as tough because he formerly withdrew from his position as deputy governor of Jakarta to run in the 2019 Presidential Election. This has prompted Sandiaga’s advocates, who are part of Rumah SandiUno Indonesia (RSI), to speak out. It is mentioned that his step down, currently acting as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, was for the benefit of the people. “Bang Sandiaga Uno’s political move to withdraw from the position of Deputy Governor of DKI at that time was for the good of the people, especially the people of Jakarta,” said RSI Secretary, Denny H Suryo Prabowo, in his address on Tuesday. He noted that Sandiaga is someone who is fully dedicated to his work and responsibilities. “Bang Sandiaga is always ready to undertake duties for the good of the people and the people of Indonesia. Whether it was in the 2017 DKI Regional Election and the 2019 Pilpres, the support for Bang Sandi Uno, who was alongside Pak Prabowo, from the people was also very large,” Denny stated. As per him, Sandiaga’s decision to resign from his position as Deputy Governor of Jakarta was because he did not want to jeopardize the benefit of the people. “Sandiaga Uno didn’t want to set a bad example for the people by only going on leave from his position as Deputy Governor. He understood that his responsibilities as deputy governor were demanding and could not be juggled with the equally challenging presidential race,” Denny explained. He mentioned that Sandiaga Uno believed it was unfair to the people if he worked incompletely, so he opted to resign from his position. “Bang Sandi Uno {felt|believed|thought

Huda reminded that the Jakarta Regional Election is very fluid and nothing is fixed, including PKS as the winner of the Jakarta Election but unable to nominate candidates independently. “Nominating two figures as governor and deputy governor candidates requires a party that already has a golden ticket, which means 20 percent,” he said. “We know that PKS won the recent legislative elections. However, they haven’t reached 20 percent because they only have 18 seats, while 20 percent requires 22 seats,” concluded Huda.

**PKS Receives Positive Signal from Surya Paloh to Build Coalition in Jakarta Pilkada** The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has nominated the Anies Baswedan-Sohibul Iman pair for the 2024 Jakarta Pilgub. PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu mentioned that the General Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, has given a positive signal towards this pair. “I am continuously building political communication with the NasDem Party, especially I made an effort to meet Mr. Surya Paloh, praise be to God he received me warmly and gave a positive signal to build cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada,” stated Syaikhu at the Sahid Hotel, Jakarta, on June 25. Syaikhu said that PKS needs to build communication with other political parties, including NasDem, to meet the requirements for the nomination of governor and deputy governor in the Jakarta Pilkada. “PKS realizes it cannot nominate a candidate alone because the number of seats we have does not yet meet the requirements to endorse independently; we have only 18 seats, and the requirement is 22. So, we still need 4 more seats,” he stated. After NasDem, PKS will soon build communication with the Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, to build a coalition in the Jakarta Pilkada. “InsyAllah, in the next few days, I will also try to communicate with PKB, with Cak Imin,” he concluded.
